I shot through Durango and headed East towards Pagosa Springs. Originally I was to head West at Durango to Cross Mesa Vera National Park (Cave Dwellings) off the list but from what I heard it is no easy in and out and would take the whole day.

At Pagosa Springs I eventually found a forest road leading to the trail head for Four Mile Falls Trail. It was an easy hike out to a waterfall and back

On the way back I ran into a heard of cattle. It was a Mexican Standoff for a few minutes as they were not moving, just making loud grunting sounds. Eventually they took off when I did a few bluff charges.

Shortly after I walked past a couple who was standing on the trail looking lost. The husband was scanning his GPS device. I just said “It is 1 mile to the falls” he said, “That’s not what my GPS says?” I just kept walking. Your on a well defined trail that is only 4 miles. What the hell do you need that GPS thing for? Like I am lying to you? This reminded me of a movie quote. In reference to the GPS, the opening scene of Old School where Wilson gets in the backseat of the cab and asks what he should do because the seatbelt was broken, to which the driver responds that he should basically shut up. Here is the video

Pagaso Springs is famous for their Hot Springs and although I do not like being hot I decided to give it a try and fork over the $24.

They have different pools all at different advertised temperatures. I hung in there about 45 minutes, but then was creeped out by all the old fat couples and had to leave.

I found a National Forest campground on my way out of town and camped for the night. Not really as much hiking as I wanted to do, maybe tomorrow would be better

 Until Tomorrow
