Trip Debriefing- Grand Circle (10 of 10)

I have had a day to recover. I felt like Tom Hanks in Cast Away yesterday. There is a scene in the movie where he comes back to civilization and is handed a lighter, and smirks at how we take such things for granted. I had the same feeling when I had a warm shower, ate out of the refrigerator, and slept in my bed.

A great trip, can't wait to figure out what is next, but I need some time to get my business and life back in order. I can't think of anything I would have done differently. I would suggest to anyone thinking of going on this trip to go in November as you avoid the crowds and can drive your own car, as opposed to being forced into shuttles at park entrance.

Here is my devolving into a madman. If anyone wants a nice framed versions, let me know. I think a 7 picture framed and matted display over the fireplace would be a great Christmas present.

I also included some of my favorite shots from the week below. If anyone is interested in doing this trip give me a call for thoughts, or if you have ideas for the next expedition!

All the best,

Darren

I have been writing this blog for almost 20 years. After owning and operating a travel company, reconnecting with the outdoors, I now spend a majority of my time exploring both off the beaten path and well worn tourist adventures.

“I saw in their eyes something I was to see over and over in every part of the nation- a burning desire to go, to move, to get under way, anyplace, away from any Here. They spoke quietly of how they wanted to go someday, to move about, free and unanchored, not toward something but away from something. I saw this look and heard this yearning everywhere in every states I visited. Nearly every American hungers to move.”
