Japan:

“I Think Im Turning Japanese'” (03/15/24)

We are still based in Thailand, so this was a relatively short flight, unlike the circadian rhythm- destroying 15 Hour flight from the US. The plan here was to get into the country before Sakura Mania hits. We would spend a few days in Kyoto, and then do some hiking in the Kii Peninsula. Continue Reading

“And The World’s Your Oyster” (10/01/19)

Off to Japan, well really Thailand, with a “brief” stop over in Tokyo. I will get into that meaning behind that punctuation that surrounds the word ‘brief’ later. I have been writing this blog for almost 20 years. After owning and operating a travel company, reconnecting with the outdoors, I now spend a majority of my time exploring both off the beaten path and well worn tourist adventures.

“I saw in their eyes something I was to see over and over in every part of the nation- a burning desire to go, to move, to get under way, anyplace, away from any Here. They spoke quietly of how they wanted to go someday, to move about, free and unanchored, not toward something but away from something. I saw this look and heard this yearning everywhere in every states I visited. Nearly every American hungers to move.”
