“Against the Waves – PACNW” (09/07/23)

It’s 2023 and the climate is in a free fall, or as Republicans labeled it: Going Through a “Change” and I am not even sure they would admit to that anymore. The whole country of Canada is in flames. The map looks like a matchhead art project. Continue Reading

“Moto Test Ride(06/15/23)

This spring, after returning from Thailand I decided to buy a motorcycle. I last owned one when I did my Covid tour around the US. It was a small TW200. It was fun but just too short for my liking. After doing a bit of research I narrowed my new bike down to a Kawasaki KLR 650. I choose this for a few reasons. First, it was cheap. I could pick one up slightly used or new within a year old for under $6K. I settled on the newer model (2022 or ’23) because it was fuel injected, digital display and frankly it looked cooler than the previous generations. Second, the KLR was everywhere. I could find tons of used ones so I was not looking for some unicorn bike that only pops up on facebook marketplace a few times each year. Third, the bike was easy to fix. Continue Reading

“Yellowstone / Grand Tetons(09/15/22)

In my tour of the National Parks I never made it to the 1st one, Yellowstone, or its sister park, Grand Tetons. I decided to rectify that tragedy. Amy was keen on getting out and exploring, so she came along. Leading up to the trip all I heard about was bears. What to do when seeing a bear; how to avoid bears; different bear personalities; favorite diets. . Continue Reading

“Grand Staircase(04/05/22)

This week was the true launch of the travel season. It is the first of many exciting trips I have scheduled. Decided on an easy one to start. Amy and I headed to Utah to explore some areas I never reached after doing the prerequisite stops on everyone’s first few trips to Southern Utah. Also we missed this area on our around the country year-long trip during the peak of COVID in 2020. Continue Reading

I have been writing this blog for almost 20 years. After owning and operating a travel company, reconnecting with the outdoors, I now spend a majority of my time exploring both off the beaten path and well worn tourist adventures.

“I saw in their eyes something I was to see over and over in every part of the nation- a burning desire to go, to move, to get under way, anyplace, away from any Here. They spoke quietly of how they wanted to go someday, to move about, free and unanchored, not toward something but away from something. I saw this look and heard this yearning everywhere in every states I visited. Nearly every American hungers to move.”
