“Just an Earthbound Misfit” (12/31/24)

Picked up scooter today. They never called. On way home from gym I saw a guy killed on scooter. I could not do anything as head injury and did not want to move him, partially because I might get in trouble. Very sad. On a brighter note, leaving for Pattaya tomorrow to pick up motorcycle! “Comfortably Numb” (12/05/23)

It was our second winter in Thailand. We left the beginning of December this year. Since it was our second time around you would think that things would be much smoother. You would think. Instead of flying Detroit to Korea and then onto Bangkok, we decided to fly East through Paris. This allowed a more even flight time for each leg. Also, the Air France seats seemed a bit more comfortable, which is important when you are sitting next to an obnoxious flyer in the window seat.  Continue Reading

“The King and I” (01/01/23)

It was just past Thanksgiving. The cold weather was delayed in arriving in Michigan, but no doubt it would make an appearance soon. It was time to take the trip that was supposed to happen 3 years ago before COVID screwed up everyone’s life.Amy and I packed up the bare essentials (pinwheels, foam cowboy hats, and a temperamental 10-year-old psychotic dog) and headed to the “Land of Smiles” for a 4-month immersion. “…And The World is Your Oyster” (10/01/19)

A 6-hour flight, fortunately, I slept through the whole thing. Amy’s sisters picked us up from the airport and we had dinner at the house with the family. Her sisters had recently finished construction on a house on in Bangkok. Continue Reading

I have been writing this blog for almost 20 years. After owning and operating a travel company, reconnecting with the outdoors, I now spend a majority of my time exploring both off the beaten path and well worn tourist adventures.

“I saw in their eyes something I was to see over and over in every part of the nation- a burning desire to go, to move, to get under way, anyplace, away from any Here. They spoke quietly of how they wanted to go someday, to move about, free and unanchored, not toward something but away from something. I saw this look and heard this yearning everywhere in every states I visited. Nearly every American hungers to move.”
